Our speaker Andrew Read joined the Bureau of Meteorology in 1986 and trained as a technical officer - forecaster in 1990 and then as a meteorologist in 1993. He has worked at East Sale Airport since. He has had two year postings to Sydney and Canberra Airports during that time. In 2014 he worked in Bermuda at the Airport for 12 months. He has since returned to work at East Sale as a lecturer. Over the course of his career his duties have included climate consultancy, lecturing, forecasting, managing, media liaison, briefings and several other duties.
Andrew's talk will cover the El Nino/Southern Oscillation Index (ENSO), Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) and how these affect climate conditions predominantly in Australia as well as the affects overseas. He will also touch briefly on the current seasonal outlook.
