SA Division - The Jim McColl Award

Mon 30 Oct 2017

The 2017 Jim McColl AIA Young Consultant Award was presented to Patrick Redden by Jim's widow Wendy McColl and son Shaun McColl, at the final SA Networking event for the year.

Patrick first started at Rural Directions in the mid north of SA as a casual in their R&D team before becoming a full-time graduate Consultant in 2004. In 2006 he started working with individual clients, some of whom he still assists today.

In addition to agronomy work, Patrick undertakes business management work with clients, including benchmarking, land acquisition planning, machinery decision making, and managing farm teams. He feels that this is rewarding work as it provides him with the whole picture of the business and people involved.

He has worked on some interesting and influential industry projects including Community Farm LinkX (NLP), Quantifying the Impact of Farm Management on Emissions (DAFF), and more recently Integration of Technical Information and Profit Drivers (GRDC).

Patrick has built on his experience over the past 13 years of project and client work to increase his networks, think deeply about issues around practice change and adoption of new information. He has also undertaken postgraduate studies in climate change, management and workplace training
The selection committee were very pleased with the strong candidates for the Award and believe that this will continue next year.
