Guest Speaker: Paul Symonds
A highly respected International Consultant on Post-conflict Recovery, Rural Development and Environment, Paul will speak on his experiences in international consulting in Africa and other countries and give some insight into the role of agricultural scientists in post-conflict recovery.
Paul has worked in 12 countries in Africa and Asia, often in remote and difficult areas, on behalf of the European Development Fund (EDF) of the European Commission and United Nations Agencies including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), International Organization for Migration (IOM), World Food Programme (WFP).
Guest Speaker: Bonnie Flohr
Bonnie graduated from the University of Adelaide with First Class Honours in 2011.
In 2012 she spent 7 months in Lhasa, Tibet, managing research trial into dual purpose crops suitability to the Tibetan environment. Bonnie will share her experiences in Tibet, to give a younger person’s perspective on overseas work.
Bonnie has since worked with SARDI and ACIAR (Canberra) and is now writing up her PhD (ANU).
The 2017 Jim McColl AIA Young Consultant Award will be announced and followed by a short presentation by the recipient.
The presentations will be short leaving plenty of time to chat with our guests and your AIA colleagues. We look forward to seeing you there and catching up with you.
