Victoria Division Lunch Meeting Tuesday 3 April 18
Speaker & Lunch 12.00 PM till 1.30 PM
Our speaker Michael Pointer has regularly visited and worked extensively in China since 1972. He will discuss some of the modern Sino / Australian history, including part of his involvement in the development of Australia’s trade with China over that period. It will include “The Seven Chinas”, Australia’s Agribusiness and Food activities, as well as the opportunities in the China Market, including the role of primary industries in China’s economy.
Looking ahead we need to engage China, hedge the risks inherent in the relationship, and in particular the ramifications of the current Sino / Australia, Sino / USA and Australia / USA relationships, together with the emergence of Xi Jinping as the most important political leader in China since Mao Zhedong.
Join us at the Elgin Inn Hotel, 75 Burwood Road, Hawthorn.
