The AIA has a number of talented members undertaking PhD's at Agriculture Victoria / La Trobe University in the AgriBio building. This next Lunch will feature short talks on the new directions and techniques in research and some of the projects being undertaken.

Chris Russell Medal of Excellence (CRMoE)
This prestigious State Award is for undergraduate students who are completing their agriculture, natural resource management and/or animal science studies and are undertaking a research project as part of their studies. NSW Student finalists will deliver presentations . with Chris Russell presenting his insights into his vision of agriculture in to the future.

Dr Jim McColl, who passed away in 2013, was one of the early pioneers of the private farm consulting movement. He specialised in a whole of farm approach, including business aspects and was highly regarded by clients and colleagues.

The SA Division of Ag Institute Australia in which Jim spent much of his time, believes that it is fitting that his contribution to Australian agriculture be recognised in the long term. The Jim McColl AIA Young Consultant Award recognises the achievements of young consultants, an area in which Jim was passionate to assist in developing and one he would be proud to support.

Beneficial Microbes in Agriculture Talk at National Hotel Complex, 182/186 High St, Bendigo

The talk will cover a range of microbes used in current agricultural systems. Learn about rhizobium bacteria that convert nitrogen from the air into plant available nitrogen. Learn how these microbes are mass produced and then added back on to legume crops such as fababeans, lentils, vetch, field pea, chickpeas and lupins.
