NSW Farming Futures Conference

Mon 01, Sep 2014

The Farming Futures Conference and Career Fair held at the University of New England (UNE) in July 2014, brought together leading agricultural science and agribusiness associations for a day to meet graduates studying in the area and to discuss the challenges that concern the future of our farming industry.

NSW AIA was one of 27 stall-holders at the Farming Futures event this year, up from 12 stalls since its conception 3 years ago. New graduates were very interested in the broad area that Ag Institute covers, as the general atmosphere of the event was to break away from the existing silos, to develop networks across sectors and collaborate to overcoming the issues faced in this dynamic industry.

NSW AIA was successful in gaining 37 new members, with existing members coming to meet new graduates and discuss their areas of expertise. A take home message for the AIA was to allow the clusters of members (associated by locality) to connect and organise their own small networks, which would be of the greatest value for any AIA member young and old.
